New England vs Chicago Fire
Major League Soccer
Date: Sunday, 18th June 2017
Kick off at 00:30 UK/ 01:30 CET
Venue: Gillette Stadium.
Chicago Fire are flying high in the new term of MLS after a dismal campaign they have had last year when they ended the season on the foot of the Eastern Conference standings.
The Fire will be hoping to keep their spell of excellent form going this weekend when they will travel to Massachusetts to battle New England Revolution.
The Revs have seriously raised their form on the home pitch where they picked up three consecutive wins ahead of the clash with Chicago.
Jay Heaps’ men will come in the game in high spirits after a demolishing 3-0 victory over current Eastern Conference leaders Toronto thanks to goals from Benjamin Angoua, Diego Fagundez and Juan Agudelo.
It will be very interesting to see how the in-form attack on the Revs’ will battle Chicago’s rock-solid defense.
The Fire kept five clean sheets in last six matches as they narrowed the gap behind Toronto to only a single point at the top.
This year’s acquisition from Legia, Nemanja Nikolic, has been fantastic netting as many as 12 goals so far in the season.
New England vs Chicago Fire: Head to head
Chicago Fire managed to close the gap in head to head meetings thanks to back-to-back wins in last two encounters with the Revs.
This includes a demolishing 3-0 victory for Veljko Paunovic’s men in mid-April when Bastian Schweinsteiger opened the scoring before Nemanja Nikolic bagged a brace.
New England vs Chicago Fire: Prediction
Gillette Stadium has been a fortress so far in the season which is why we would not advise the away win bets as much as 13/5 odds might seem attractive.
We will rather look for the value in backing the draw which somehow appears to be the most realistic of three outcomes.
