Napoli vs Bologna: Prediction
Fire in Naples are still raging on, despite Ancelotti’s attempts to break bread with their controversial owner Aurelio De Laurentis. Most of the players are still unhappy and that shows on the pitch.
Troubled side is still on a winless run, their 1-1 draw vs Liverpool made that seventh game in a row they haven’t won. Currently sitting at 7th place with 20 points, W-D-L record of 5-5-3, Champions League football Neapolitans desire is still within grasp, as Cagliari is only 5 points away but first they have to get their house in order.
‘I Partenopei’ played six league games at Sao Paolo, winning three, drawing two and losing only to high flying Cagliari, with a goal difference of 8:4. They average 1.33 goals scored and 0.67 conceded. An uninspiring 0-0 draw with Genoa was last game played in front of Azzuri’s tifosi.
Except for already injured Malcuit, Millik, Ghoulam and Tonelli, all players are available for selection. It’s still unclear whether Ancelotti will mix things up following their midweek trip to England but for game as important as this, we can expect the strongest XI.
Incredibly tough schedule is ahead of The Veltri and they must start picking up points if they wish to stay outside of relegation dog-fight. Mihajlovic brought a spark to this team last season, made a Spartan unit out of them but now, with him battling cancer, they struggle.
Having won only one out of the previous 10 league games, they sit at 15th place in Serie A, three points clear off endangered Genoa. With three wins, four draw and six losses and, frankly, not so bad GD of 18:22, this team is still far cry from their best self.
Away from home, Bologna are, as expected, among the worst in the league. Out of seven games, only one win, two draws and four defeats. Almost all of them are close one but defeats nonetheless. Bologna scored 9 goals, conceded 13, which on average means 1.29 and 1.86 respectively.
Destro, Soriano, Dijks and Santander are missing , all due to injuries.
As history shows, we can expect an entertaining game as sun begin to set over San Paolo. Bologna have more than enough motive to give it all but for Napoli… We’ll se if Carlo Ancelotti made some progress in peace talks between players and an eccentric owner.
Over 2.5 goals should come to pass easily. If that isn’t enough for you, I wouldn’t blame you if you were to combine it with both teams scoring. These teams showed us they can produce quite a few goal-fests over the years.
Also, I’d like to back Dries Mertens to net anytime, as he did it in last three matches these teams played.
