Napoli vs AC Milan
2018/19 Italian Serie A.
Date: Saturday 25 August 2018
Kick-Off: 19:30 UK,
Venue: Stadio San Paolo (Naples).
It’s set to be an interesting reunion for Gonzalo Higuain as he takes on his former side when AC Milan travel to face Napoli on Saturday evening. And Higuain won’t be the only one taking a trip down memory lane, either.
Carlo Ancelotti, who once managed AC Milan and led them to two Champions Leagues, will be feeling some nostalgia, perhaps, as he welcomes the Rossoneri as well for his second game in charge of the Partenopei.
Ancelotti’s first game certainly wasn’t easy, as Napoli faced Lazio in Rome, and had to come from a goal down but ultimately won that contest 2-1.
This season is set to be a very interesting one as there are at least four teams, perhaps even five, who look good to challenge for the Scudetto.
Juventus, obviously, are the favorites. Then there’s Napoli, Roma, Inter, and perhaps even Lazio, although AC Milan will be hoping to be part of that conversation this time around.
Napoli have a pretty tough fixture list as they will have to face middle-level sides like Sampdoria, Fiorentina, and Torino – all of who could cause them to drop points – before facing reigning champions Juventus – at the early stages of this season.
However, if the Partenopei can successfully navigate their way through this, plus handle themselves well in the Champions League, they will certainly be well on their way.
AC Milan, meanwhile, saw their clash with Genoa called off due to the bridge collapse and so are low on match fitness.
That will naturally be a big disadvantage for the Rossoneri, who obviously were hoping to get up and running having made some notable signings this summer, including getting Higuain from loan from Juventus, as well as young defender Mattia Caldara, also from the Bianconeri.
The Rossoneri have had their fair share of problems off the pitch due to financial issues, but with that firmly behind them will be looking forward to having a more stable and successful campaign both domestically and in in Europe.
Having spent a lot of money last season, Milan will aim to at least finish in the top four but that’s going to be a lot easier said than done this campaign – especially with how determined their rivals will be to also challenge for a top four berth.

Napoli vs AC Milan: Prediction
Milan are starting their season late, and not under the best circumstances, either. A trip to Napoli is not what the Rossoneri wanted, but beggars can’t be choosers.
They’ve made some interesting signings, shipping out the misfiring Croatian striker Nikola Kalinic and getting an upgrade in Gonzalo Higuain.
He’s acquired a certain reputation for scoring against his former side and he’ll want to continue that at the Stadio San Paolo to help the Diavolo to get up and running.
However, that may not be enough to see off the Partenopei on home turf, who are unbeaten in their last seven home meetings with Milan across all comps.
Milan scored on the road against all the top nine sides last term, whilst Napoli shipped at least one goal in all but one of their 19 home games, so backing BTTS is a safe bet here.
