Nantes vs Dijon Prediction & Match Preview

Nantes vs Dijon
French Ligue 1
Date: Sunday, 13th December 2020
Kick off at 14:00 UK/ 15:00 CET
Venue: Stade Beaujoire (Nantes).

For Nantes their biggest problem has been a lack of consistency but right now in the league they are in bad patch of form. Add to that coach Christian Gourcuff was sacked after their latest defeat so it’s all change for the Canaries.

The club were outclassed last weekend as they lost 4-0 at home to Strasbourg a club who have struggled more than them and there are worrying signs for Nantes.

The truth is Nantes have no wins in their last four games and have now lost back to back matches in Ligue 1. Defensively they look all over the place and have conceded seven goals in those two recent defeats. They are in 14th place and even a win would keep them there but it would obviously still be a positive boost that the club really need.

Dijon have been the worst team in Ligue 1 and are bottom of the league. But perhaps there has been some signs of improvement recently. Last weekend the club drew 0-0 against Saint Etienne and they have gone their last 2 matches undefeated and have picked up six points from their last 15, for Dijon that is a big improvement.

Away from home there has only been 1 win for the club so far but they have gone their last two trips picking up points, and a win here could see them climb out of the relegation zone.

Nantes vs Dijon Head to Head

  • Last season Nantes won this fixture 1-0.
  • The last 4 meetings between the sides have seen both teams not to score in three of those occasions.
  • Dijon have not won at Nantes since 2010.

Nantes vs Dijon Prediction

The sacking of Gourcuff had been coming for some time and it maybe it is perfect timing to bring in someone new to the club with Dijon being Nantes next game.

Dijon have improved and could be a threat and should have some good opportunities but you get the sense that Nantes players might be refreshed with new tactics, we will have to wait and see but it could be worth backing them to get a rare win at the weekend.

Patrick Collot is in charge of Nantes now but remember he is only the caretaker until they find a permanent replacement. This is sure to be a close game and that means that the market will be open, so there is value to be had but we will go for the home side since Dijon has a poor record here also.
