Nacional Asuncion vs Olimpia
Date: Thursday, 13th July 2017
Kick off at 01:45 UK/ 02:45 CET
Venue: Estadio Defensores del Chaco.
Everything is set for the all-Paraguayan clash in the second round of Copa Sudamericana as Nacional Asuncion will host Olimpia in the first leg this Wednesday at Estadio Defensores del Chaco.
The hosts have been one of the weakest attacking teams in recently-ended Apertura season in the top flight of the Paraguayan football.
The team led by Roberto Torres claimed no more than five wins in 22 games to finish the competition at the ninth position.
However, the poor performances in the domestic league did not prevent the sensation in the continental competition where they eliminated Brazilian Cruzeiro after penalties (3-3 on aggregate).
The visitors have been enjoying much better campaign as they came third at the end of Division Profesional’s Apertura.
However, the manager Ever Hugo Almeida can’t be thrilled with the finish of the season as the team failed to clinch a single win in last four matches.
Olimpia played Copa Libertadores qualifications in this season (they were stopped in the play-offs by Botafogo after penalties).
Nacional Asuncion vs Olimpia: Head to head
The visitors have been much more successful in the history of head to head encounters between the two teams.
Olimpia won eight and drew of last 11 H2H meetings with Nacional Asuncion whose last win came three years ago.
Nacional Asuncion vs Olimpia: Prediction
Olimpia are obvious favourites to go through over two legs, but we don’t expect to enjoy the beauty of the game in the first leg considering the poor attacking form both teams showed at the end of the season in their domestic competition.
