NAC Breda vs Heerenveen
Date: Saturday, 22 December 2018
Kick-Off at 18:45 UK / 19:45 CET
Venue: Rat Verlegh Stadion (Breda).
Heerenveen ended a two-win streak with an unpleasant 2-3 loss at home to Utrecht last Sunday. It was a dreadful first-half display from De Superfriezen who went on the break with a three-goal deficit in front of the home crowd. Michel Vlap and Pele van Amersfoort pulled two goals back with 15 minutes to go, but Jan Olde Riekerink’s men did not have the strength to perform a complete comeback until the end.
The loss kept De Superfriezen three points shy of top seven positions in the Eredivise standings. They will be looking to rebound and end the year in a victorious fashion on Saturday evening against relegation strugglers NAC Breda away at Rat Verlegh Stadion. Breda had a dismal campaign so far in the season. They currently sit second from bottom with 12 points from 16 matches. However, we have to mention that each of Breda’s three wins came on the home patch where they generally play fine throughout the season.
NAC Breda vs Heerenveen: Head-to-head
Heerenveen were on a streak of three wins and a draw in four H2H games with Breda before losing 3-0 in their previous fixture at Rat Verlegh Stadion in April this year.
It is interesting to mention that none of past seven head to head affairs saw goals scored at both ends.
Heerenveen lead the head to head tie by 14 wins coming into 49th encounter with NAC.
NAC Breda vs Heerenveen: Prediction
As mentioned above, Breda can be a tough nut to crack in front of their fans. They won two, drew one and lost one of last four league games on the home patch. The lone loss came against Ajax (0-3), while the team showed strength in two separate 2-1 wins over Heracles and Vitesse along the way.
Breda drew 0-0 away at PEC Zwolle in a relegation six-pointer last weekend. The team led by Mitchell van der Gaag were better on the pitch throughout 90 minutes of play on the occasion.
De Superfriezen did recover from the mentioned loss to Utrecht with a 1-3 mid-week victory over fourth-division outfit ODIN ’59 to advance to the KNVB Beker quarter-final. Nonetheless, the fact they shipped a goal in that game suggests Breda should be on the scoreline in what could easily be a high-scoring affair on Saturday at Rat Verlegh.
