As football betting continues to be a favourite amongst punters on sportsbooks, the prediction market is increasingly important. People betting on European leagues value the odds created by online sportsbooks like NetBet to help them decide which bets to make.

In this article, we will look at the which European leagues are the most predictable to choose a champion from. We are specifically looking at the winner of the league each season.

    Most Predictable European Leagues

Serie A: Juventus is on a seven-year league winning streak and is on course to win an eight straight Scudetto. However, the Old Lady faces more competition from Lazio and Inter Milan in the 2019/2020 season. Serie A has always been dominated by Juventus, Inter, Milan, Roman and Lazio, but the new era of Juventus dominance is unprecedented.

SPL: The Scottish Premier League has been a two-horse race between Celtic and Rangers since Alex Ferguson’s Aberdeen won the title way back in 1985. Rangers has 54 titles and Celtic has won 50. However, its Celtic that is currently dominant with eight consecutive titles and a ninth all but secured in 2020.

Bundesliga: Bayern Munich’s dominance of the Bundesliga is well-documented and cemented. The Bavarian club can remain atop German football by cherry-picking the best talent from Bundesliga rivals to supplement its global stars. Bayern is enjoying a seven-year streak of winning the league.

Ligue 1: Money can’t buy you love but can definitely buy your league titles… just ask PSG. In Ligue 1, Paris Saint Germain was just another club in the mix and had only won a single Ligue 1 title by 2013. Since then, Qatari money has propelled the club to the top echelons of European football. While the Champions League still eludes PSG, the club is on course in 2020 for a seventh league title in eight years.

Honourable Mention – La Liga: When looking at the leagues above that were dominated in recent teams by a single club, it may seem unfair to include La Liga. However, the Spanish league is predictable because most seasons one of two clubs will win it, either Real Madrid or Barcelona.

Most seasons it’s a coin toss which of those great rivals emerges victorious, but both clubs are head and shoulders above the rest of the league. In fact, from the last 20 seasons, either Real Madrid or Barca has won 17 of the titles (Madrid 6, Barcelona 11). Upsets happen, but your money should be on these giants in La Liga each season.
