Montreal Impact vs Philadelphia Union:
MLS Regular Season,
Date: Sunday, July 24, 2016
Kick-off: 0:30 UK Time
Venue: Saputo Stadium (Montreal).
The top of the table in MLS Eastern Conference continues as Montreal Impact host Philadelphia Union on Saturday evening.
Montreal Impact are currently fourth in the Eastern Conference table with 26 points from 19 matches. They are 2 points short of the third placed New York Red Bulls, who played 2 games more than them. And Saturday’s opponent Philadelphia Union sits second in the table with 30 points from 20 matches. Union are three points behind conference leaders New York City FC, with a game in hand. This is a very important fixture for both sides involves as a combination of results could turn the table at the end of the weekend.
Montreal Impact are coming on the back of a 3-1 home defeat to New York City FC last weekend. This ended their 6 match unbeaten run, but only the second defeat in 12 games. Montreal were also on a five match unbeaten run at home, prior to the defeat to City FC.
Philadelphia Union battled to come from behind to held New York Red Bulls to a 2-2 draw at home. Sacha Kljestan struck twice to send the Red Bulls 2-0 up at the break, but Union came back brilliantly through goals from C.J. Sapong and Chris Pontius inside 2 minutes to put the scores on level. Union were down to 10 men after drawing level as Ilshino was rightly sent-off by the referee for elbowing an opposition player. However, the hosts held the edge for the rest of the game and should have easily came out with all three points if their finishing was much better.
Montreal Impact: Team News
Both Andres Romero and Marco Donadel are expected to miss Saturday’s clash with injuries.
Mauro Biello is expected to revert the formation back to 4-3-3 after the 4-4-2 backfired against New York City FC last week.
Montreal Impact: Predicted Line-up (4-3-3)
Bush – Tissot, Cabrera, Lefevre, Oyongo – Bernier, Donadel, Bekker – Piatti, Drogba, Venegas.
Philadelphia Union: Team News
Maurice Edu is the only major injury concern for Union ahead of the trip to Montreal. Sebastien Le Toux and CJ Sapong are all fit to start, while Ilshino remains out with a suspension.
Philadelphia Union Predicted Line up (4-2-3-1):

Montreal Impact vs Philadelphia Union: Prediction
Montreal will go into this match with home advantage and for me they are slight favourites to win this one. Philadelphia Union haven’t done particularly well in away fixtures lately. Union had won just once away from home this season, while they lost 5 and drew 3 of the 9 games so far. Montreal on the back of their strong home could edge a positive result, but this won’t be an easy outing by any means.
Montreal had conceded goals in 8 of their 9 home matches so far this season. Moreover, they let in 9 goals in their last 4 matches at the Saputo stadium and I can see them struggling to keep a clean sheet here as well. I also expect this match to be a high scoring one and I will be confidently backing both teams to score here, which is further strengthen by the fact that Philadelphia haven’t kept a clean sheet away from home this season.
I predict a high scoring match on Saturday, with the hosts as slight favourites to edge this 3-2 at full time.
