Montenegro vs Czech Republic
Euro 2020 Qualification
Date: Tuesday, 10 September 2019
Kick off at 19:45 UK/ 20:45 CET
Venue: Stadion Pod Goricom (Podgorica).
Montenegro are sitting at 5th position in the Qualifying Group A with two draws and two losses after four rounds and a goal difference of 3:10. They are leveled on points with Bulgaria but have a game in hand over fellow strugglers.
With a new man on the bench, Faruk Hadzibegic, Montenegro came back from a goal down to beat Hungary in a friendly match few days ago, and now they’re set to host Czech Republic, a team that dismantled them three months ago.
Third-placed Czech Republic have win-draw-lose record of 2-0-2. They won both of their games at home (Bulgaria 2-1, Montenegro 3-0), but failed to make it count on the road, as they lost 0-5 at Wembley and 1-2 in Pristina.
Now they’re two points behind Kosovo and all of their remaining games should be treated as must-win. Czechia have beaten Tuesday’s hosts with ease in June, although Montenegro had an interim coach on the bench.
Montenegro vs Czech Republic: Head to Head
The Czech national team have won all three games against Montenegro in the past (3-0, 2-0, 1-0).
Montenegro vs Czech Republic Prediction
Montenegro are hoping for a fresh start under new coach and they want their October games to matter. For that to be the case, they have to defeat the guests. I am positive they will get on the score sheet at least once in what promises to be an open and entertaining match.
The Czechs have lost a massive game on Saturday and they need to snap back before the England fixture next month. They will probably change their approach a little bit, be attacking-minded from the start in search of a first win on the road.
All things considered, I see goals here, on both ends.
