Borussia Monchengladbach vs FC Koln
Germany – Bundesliga
Date: Sunday, 9 February 2020

Borussia Monchengladbach are gunning for 13th victory of the season as they welcome The Billy Goats to Borussia-Park in Bundesliga’s Rheinland derby on Sunday lunchtime.
Borussia Monchengladbach vs FC Koln: Match Preview
Ten-man Borussia were denied victory in Leipzig; the Foals were leading 2-0 at the break, but a red card for Alassane Plea after an hour tipped the game in the hosts favour as they’ve mounted an incredible comeback to a 2-2 draw.
Helped by Leipzig dropping points left and right in the recent weeks, Marco Rose’s men are back in the title race, with 39 points they sit at 4th, just three points off the top and Bundesliga despots, Bayern Munich.
Since August 30th and loss to Leipzig’s Red Bulls, the Foals have racked up eight straight victories in front of their own fans, effectively making them the most prolific hosts of the Bundesliga and Borussia-Park the most unforgiving ground to play at.
1. FC Koln recovered after catastrophe at Dortmund and returned to their winning ways in spectacular fashion on Sunday afternoon, as Markus Gisdol’s men earned a 4:0 win over wavering SC Freiburg.
Having been seen as sure passengers for Zweite due to their horrendous start to the season, the Billy Goats awakened during the first days of December, beating and slaughtering opponent after opponent until they’ve risen to 14th, six points off endangered Werder.
Die Geißböcke must improve and start winning some points on the road should they wish to maintain Bundesliga status and prove that victory at Frankfurt wasn’t just a fluke; a fair assessment since they’ve come home empty handed from six excursions prior Frankfurt and has lost at Dortmund two weeks ago.
Christoph Kramer, Tony Jantschke and Ramy Bensebaini won’t be available to Marco Rose due to injuries while the jury’s still out for Florian Mayer and Lászlo Bénes. Alassane Plea will be on the stands for this one following expulsion last week v RBL.
Elvis Rexhbecaj is one sure MIA for Koln; Niklas Hauptmann, Jan Thielmann, Matthias Bader and Christian Clemens might make it, if medical staff deems them fit enough.

Borussia Monchengladbach vs FC Koln: Prediction
Looking at evidence present, this case seems clean-cut. One of the worst teams away from home travels to (currently) most ruthless battleground in Germany. I just don’t see the Billy Goats getting anything from this game, Borussia is just relentless in front of their own fans.
I see them getting one or two past Sommer though… Despite their invincibility at home, Monchengladbach concede quite a few and Jhon Córdoba & Co might just do that and grant us another entertaining affair at Borussia-Park this Sunday.
