Monchengladbach are looking to keep their dreams of Bundesliga title alive when they welcome declining Hoffenheim to Borussia-Park on Saturday afternoon.
Borussia Monchengladbach vs Hoffenheim Match Preview
After an unscheduled week off, Borussia showed their hunger and returned to Bundesliga action last Saturday evening with a superb 4-1 win over local rivals Fortuna Düsseldorf with 52,000 fans at the sold-out Merkur Spiel-Arena in Düsseldorf watching an eventful Lower-Rhine derby.
With a game in hand, Marco Rose’s men occupy fourth place at Bundesliga table, four points off the top and undisputed rulers of German football, Bayern Munich; with a victory against another local rival, Koln in a postponed match, the Foals are closing in onto Bavarians on just one point difference (but that’s just a wishful thinking, for now).
In their home ground, Die Fohlen are just flawless. Following an opening draw and loss against RBL, they’ve racked up eight consecutive victories at Borussia-Park, strangling an opponent after opponent, with their latest victim being relegation threatened Mainz, who got to the lead first but eventually succumbed ahead of superior combatant.
Hoffenheim had everything in their hands (or legs) as they’ve fought and twice drew themselves level after failing goal down but ultimately lost 3-2 to VfL Wolfsburg in a curious and penalty-laden encounter on last Saturday.
It was second defeat in a row for Alfred Schreuder and one which saw his men slip down to eight but despite all their wastefulness, achtzehn99 are still in the play for one of Europa League spots as Schalke 04 is just three points away.
Die Kraichgauer remains one of the most prolific away sides this season in the Bundesliga; loss at Freiburg was their third on the road, added up with two draws and five victories, the greatest being their scalp of Bayern Munich in front of entirety of Allianz Arena.
Four players might or might not sit this one out for the Foals, as we’re still waiting on opinions of their medical staff. Players in question are Denis Zakaria, Breel Embolo, Ramy Bensebaini and Florian Mayer.
Hoffenheim is in somewhat similar situation; Ishak Belfodil is apparently the only one out for sure, with Dennis Geiger and Ihlas Bebou going down the wire.

Borussia have 4-6-2 record at home versus achtzehn99.
The Prussians came back from Sinsheim with all points in the bag, much easier than expected, as they beat Hoffenheim 0-3 back in September.
Monchengladbach are currently on a five-game unbeaten streak v Die Kraichgauer.
Interestingly enough, Hoffenheim were first to score in five of their last seven meetings.
Both sides have scored in eight of last ten encounters.
Six of their last seven showdowns ended with more than 2.5 goals.
Borussia Monchengladbach vs Hoffenheim: Prediction
Games that Monchengladbach plays in front of their own fans have become somewhat predictable of late. They’re hugely entertaining affairs, with goals coming from both sides but ultimately, it’s the Foals who are celebrating in the end. Something I expect to see on Saturday as well.
It doesn’t take a genius to predict an unconventional score line where these two sides are concerned.
All it take is a little look into their h2h and past encounters and you’ll see that both Borussia and Hoffenheim aren’t exactly goal-shy when they lock swords. Three goals will be netted for sure. Where they’ll stop? Who knows…?
