Monaco vs Toulouse Prediction & Match Preview

Monaco vs Toulouse
French Ligue 1
Date: Saturday, 2nd February 2019
Kick off at 19:00 UK/ 20:00 CET
Venue: Stade Louis II (Monaco).

What a week it has been at Monaco as they sacked Thierry Henry and brought back their old coach Leonardo Jardim. His first game back in charge was in the Coupe de la Ligue semi finals where Monaco played Guingamp, the game ended 2-2 but Guingamp won a thrilling penalty shoot out to dump Monaco out.

While it is more disappointment for the club they need to see the bigger picture and at least the game was forced to extra time. However we shouldn’t forget that Monaco were 2-0 up in that game. Jardim’s job is easy on paper, take Monaco out of the bottom three.

It is still very close down the bottom but it is hard to see where Monaco’s next win will come. At home it may sound incredible but they still haven’t won a game this season. They are 3 points adrift of 17th position coming into this game.

Toulouse are in 13th place on 26 points and look destined to finish in midtable. Their last game ended in a 0-0 draw against Angers and they have gone their last 3 games without a defeat, they are clearly the most confident side out of the two.

Their away form is one of the best in the league where they have won 3 from their last 4 games. That is the really bad news for Monaco. This includes beating Lille who are in 2nd place.

Monaco vs Toulouse: Head to Head

  • The last two games between the teams has ended in draws.
  • The last time Monaco played Toulouse at home they won 3-2.
  • Toulouse have not beaten Monaco at Stade Louis II since 2008.

Monaco vs Toulouse: Prediction

This will be Monaco’s first game at home with Jardim back in charge- that alone should have pulses racing. In the first half v Guingamp his side were great, the best football they have played this season, and then they collapsed.

If they start well and the crowd can get behind them there is a chance against Toulouse. But the away side cannot be taken lightly.

Monaco are odds on to win the game, this is completely unjustified against a strong side like Toulouse. So, we will take the better value and back them on the handicap.

It may also be worth backing Rony Lopes who is finally back in the Monaco side after injury. He scored in the cup match so is always a threat and is a good price here.

Monaco vs Toulouse: Bet Tips

  • Handicap: Toulouse +1 Handicap @ 2.00 (1/1)
