Monaco vs Montpellier
French Ligue 1
Date: Sunday 18th October 2020
Kick off at 14:00 UK/ 15:00 CET
Venue: Stade Louis II.
Monaco come into this game in 6th position after their form dropped off by losing 2 of their last three games. The club will try and get back to winning ways when they host Montpellier on Sunday.
By losing recent games they have seen title rivals PSG swarm past them and are now 4 points behind league leaders Rennes. The low point for the club came in their last match when they went to Brest and lost 1-0. Still with it being so early in the league Monaco can make headways and easily move up the table with a win here.
Montpellier are in 5th place with the same points as Monaco just a better goal difference and that will add some spice to this encounter.
However after a solid start the club have failed to win their last two games after a draw against Dijon and then a surprise loss at home to Nimes. The good news for Montpellier is that they are scoring goals and have netted 12 already, that is a good sign that a club can recover from poor form quickly.
Monaco vs Montpellier Head to Head
- Last season Monaco won this fixture 1-0.
- In the last 10 years Montpellier have only won once at Stade Louis II, this came in 2018 with a 2-1 victory.
- There is a 60% chance to see over 2.5 goals.
Monaco vs Montpellier: Prediction
Both teams have lost their footing in recent weeks and that is why this could be a quiet game to start with but build up as it goes on. One of our choices therefore will be to see more goals in the 2nd half as the game opens up more.
Monaco have shown good signs this season but not enough to think that they are back and could finish in a Champions League place. They still look like they could crumble in any given game. That is why we will stick with the goals market here and choose to see 3 goals or more. Montpellier will try and counter and remain a dangerous opponent.
