In the opening round of the Norwegian Eliteserien, Molde is going to host Sandefjord. Home side wants to be competitive in the title race, while the visitors are looking to secure their place in the top tier of Norwegian league pyramid.
Molde finished the last season as the second placed side, being seven points behind Rosenborg who won the title. They didn’t manage to challenge them more and were mostly focused on winning the 2nd place. They were very productive in the final third and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side was one of the most efficient in the league. However, their defensive record could have been a bit better, although it wasn’t too bad. Home side is traditionally playing very well at their ground and last time they booked nine wins in front of their fans. They are going to be one of the main title contenders and we can expect them to fight for the top spot.
On the other hand, Sandefjord were the first team above the red line at the end of the previous season. In the closing five games they have lost four times and luckily for them, bad form of their rivals kept them four points above the relegation zone. Abdoulaye Seck and the lads were very bad when defending their goal and they have conceded 51 times last season. Their bad streak continued in the pre-season as well and we will see the struggling for the survival once again.
