Millwall vs Fulham
English League Cup
Date: Tuesday, 25 September 2018
Kick-Off at 19:45 UK / 20:45 CET
Venue: The Den (London).

Millwall continued to be toothless in the final third on Saturday when they fell 2-0 to West Brom away at The Hawthorns. It was their third loss in last four games in the Championship and the team dropped down to the 22nd position as a result.

The Lions are now obviously miles away from the promotional challenge even though they’ve shown strength against the big guns in the division at the start of the competition when they drew to the likes of Leeds and Middlesbrough.

Can their poor run of form come to an end on Tuesday evening when Neil Harris’s side is about to take on a Premier League opposition Fulham in the 4rd round of the League Cup at The Den?

The visitors are still looking to find consistency in the top flight of the English football. They currently sit 15th in the league ladder with just five points won in six games so far. The Cottagers managed to rescue a point thanks to late Aleksandar Mitrovic equalizer on Saturday afternoon against Watford at Craven Cottage. It was an affair which saw Fulham struggle in the build-up play throughout most of the game.

Millwall vs Fulham: Head-to-head

These two sides played each other in the previous term of Championship.

Fulham came on top on both occasions without conceding a single goal in the process (1-0 and 3-0).

It is interesting to note that none of past four head to head affairs between these two likes saw goals at both ends.

Millwall vs Fulham: Prediction

Millwall scored just twice in last five league games. One of these goals came in a 1-2 defeat to ten-man Swansea City at the start of September. The team, however, took advantage of an easier League Cup schedule to pick up two narrow wins in opening rounds. They went past Gillingham and Plymouth to reach the third round of the competition.

Fulham began the League Cup campaign in the second round when they had no troubles easing past Exeter City 2-0 thanks to Aboubakar Kamara brace at Craven Cottage.

Based on everything written above, the Under 2.5 goals FT looks to be just the way to go here. Fulham are clearly favourites to go through, but Slavisa Jokanovic might give rest to his key players (primarily Aleksandar Mitrovic), which is why backing a low-scoring contest is a much wiser call than going for the away win.
