Millwall vs Brentford: Prediction
The Lions come into this match on the back of a 1-1 draw against Cardiff in an emotional reunion with Neil Harris, club’s record goalscorer and former boss. Harris, now in charge of the Welsh side, left Millwall in October, when they were 18th, five points above the relegation zone.
They have improved considerably since Gary Rowett, former Stoke manager, took over and climbed up to 12th place on the ladder, thirteen points above the pit. The South East London outfit have claimed eight points from their last five league outings.
Millwall have recorded five wins, four draws and two defeats in their own backyard, netting 1.55 goals per bout and shipping 1.18 in return. They fell to a 1-2 defeat to Barnsley in their latest home fixture.
The high-flying Bees extended their unbeaten streak to four games following a 3-1 win vs Swansea on Boxing Day. Thomas Frank’s side are on a terrific run of form, especially at Griffin Park where they won five games on the trot.
Sitting at 3rd position with the win-draw-lose record of 12-4-8, Brentford are eight points off of second-placed Leeds and three points clear of Playoff-chasing pack.
The visiting side have logged five wins, one draw and six defeats on their travels this season, bagging 1.25 goals per match, whilst shipping 0.92. They have lost two of their last three away clashes.
The hosts upped their numbers at The Den to almost two goals scored per game since Rowett arrived and we’ve seen goals on both ends in eight of their last nine fixtures at this venue.
Brentford, one of the league’s best attacking teams with 37 goals on their tally, have shipped at least one goal in four of their last five road matches. Therefore, I’m taking BTTS – Yes as my main bet.
As for my second pick, I’ll back the guests in safer, DNB market as I feel they will have just enough to claim the three points in what should be an attractive contest.
