Millwall vs Bolton
EFL Championship, Season 2017/18
Date: Saturday, 12th August 2017
Kick off at 15:00 UK/16:00 CET
Venue: The Den.
Two familiar sides which forged their promotion from League 1 to The Championship are facing each other on Saturday. Both teams lost their openers and will be eager to earn a point or three.
Millwall managed to get through in The League Cup a few day ago. The team faced League 2 side Stevenage at home. After a goalless first half all the goal action happened in the second half. Tom Elliot scored 2 identical headers. First in the 54th minute he scored after a cross from the right side. 13 minutes later he did the same but this time the cross came from the left side. Millwall comfortable finished the game and went into the next round.
The first league round wasn’t as easy though. The team traveled to City Ground to face Nottingham. The team let Nottingham dictate the tempo but defended well until a wonderful individual skill allowed Barry McKay to score a goal in a crucial moment. Letting a goal just before half time really messed Millwalls plans. Still the team had its chances in the second half and will be somewhat disappointed without getting a point from this game.
Bolton got to this level after finishing 2nd in League 1. The team now faces bigger challenge and it will be interesting to see how things will turn up with the minimal summer selection. Bolton saw off Crew in the middle of this week. They managed to get a 2-1 victory in the League Cup tie and went through. The team was losing 1-0 but with 2 goals in the space of 10 minutes things turned around. Armstrong and Derik were the scorers in 70th and 80th minutes accordingly.
Bolton went into their first game with ambitions for positive result. The team played decently well against Leeds but it was evident they lack some class in key areas. They conceded an early goal which messed them up hard. After 30 minutes the score became 0-2 after Chris Wood scored for United. Bolton took one back 9 minutes later when Madine out jumped his marker and headed the goal in. Their joy didn’t last long though as Leeds scored a 3rd goal just before half time. The second half Bolton had some chances and took one of them. Leeds conceded a penalty which was converted by Le Fondre. Bolton tried to get to the point but Leeds held firm to deny them.

Millwall vs Bolton: Prediction
Both teams had a good defensive record last season and somewhat poor strike force. They will also be very cautious as both sides need points heavily and will try everything to avoid losing which makes chances for a low-scoring game high.
Bolton looks to be somewhat better team currently. They played decently well against Leeds and were a little bit unlucky to lose. Backing them not to lose the game will be our second option.
