Middlesbrough vs Burnley
English Premier League
Date: Saturday, 8th April 2017
Kick-off at 15:00 UK/ 16:00 CET
Venue: Riverside Stadium.
Steve Agnew is still looking for the first victory since taking over Aitor Karanka as the head coach of Middlesbrough.
The team probably lost all hopes for saving the elite class status in mid-week when they suffered a 4-2 away loss against fellow strugglers Hull City to stay seven points behind the line with eight games to play.
Boro thus simply have to pick up the victory one way or another this Saturday when they host one of the weakest visiting team in the league.
Middlesbrough played a rather weird fixture with the Tigers at KCOM Stadium.
They were off to a dream start when Alvaro Negredo pushed them in front only five minutes in the game, but the defense looked strangely disastrous allowing as many as four goals against one of the weakest attacking lines in the competition.
Sean Dyche’s men finally ended the dismal streak which started with the FA Cup elimination to non-league Lincoln City.
The Clarets have been winless in eight consecutive outings mainly because of the great struggles to find the net.
However, they did manage to end it in mid-week when George Boyd got them back on track making the difference against Stoke City.
Middlesbrough vs Burnley: Head to head
Six of the previous seven head to head encounters between these two teams ended with Under 2.5 goals which is kind of the scenario we are expecting to see this weekend at Riverside.
Boro lead the head to head tie by a single win, but they failed to pick up the victory in last three clashes with the Clarets.
Middlesbrough vs Burnley: Prediction
It is literally to be or not to be for the hosts.
Burnley don’t have a single victory on the road so far in the season, they have been struggling a lot to find the back of the net lately, and we expect Boro to try and win the match with the rock-solid defense and the clean sheet.
