Mexico vs Iceland: Preview and Predictions

Mexico vs Iceland
International – Friendly Match
Date: Saturday, 24th March 2018
Kick-Off at 2:00 UK
Venue: Levi’s Stadium (Santa Clara).

One of the most interesting international friendly clashes is going to take place in Santa Clara where Mexico and Iceland are going to take on each other. Both sides managed to qualify for the World Cup and this one is going to be a good preparation for them.

Mexico had and easy job to find their place in Russia and they were one of the teams which booked their place a few rounds before the end of the cycle. Since the United States had an ultimately disappointing campaign, Javier Hernandez and the lads had no troubles of securing the top spot. They suffered only one defeat in ten matches which came in the last round in the match without much importance for them. Mexico allowed only one point to their visitors when playing at home pitch and conceded only two times. They are looking for a good campaign in Russia and the place in the knockout round.

After excellent displays in the latest Euro, Iceland managed to keep up the form and have another magnificent campaign. They’ve managed to qualify for the World Cup for the first time in their history although they weren’t considered as the top candidates for the trip to Russia. They were putting very good performances when playing away from home and managed to score more than they’ve conceded. Heimir Hallgrimsson’s side are one of the most interesting teams in this edition of the World Cup and it will be interesting to see how far they can go this time.

Mexico vs Iceland: Head-to-head

In the last 15 years, these two teams faced each other in three occasions and Mexico managed to celebrate once, while the other two clashes ended with a goalless draw. We didn’t see many goals in the Mexico’s win, since just one goal was enough for them to seal the victory.

Mexico vs Iceland: Prediction

Mexico are the favourites in this one as well, however Iceland shouldn’t be underestimated.
