Arsenal will host Chelsea at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday and the Gunners have had a squad boost ahead of the game, manager Arsene Wenger confirmed Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez are back to full scale training and are in contention to face the Blues.
Mesut Ozil injured his toe which kept him out of the Gunners 0-0 stalemate at Stoke City while Alexis Sanchez picked up a hamstring injury in Arsenal 1-1 draw against Norwich City in November.
And Arsene Wenger has revealed the utility duo are in pole position to play against Chelsea.
“Compared to last week, we have no big problems. The good news is that Ozil certainly will be available and for Sanchez, the next two days will be decisive but I think he will be available for selection.”
“The signs we’ve had in training this week are very positive.” Wenger said.
Sanchez has missed 10 games since his setback and Ozil has 16 assist, a potential contender to break Thierry Henry’s 20 assist Premier League season record.
A come back of the pair serve as a huge boost for Arsenal. Arsene Wenger, however, gave a download of players in the treatment room progress.
“Coquelin is ahead of schedule and Welbeck should be back in training soon. That is positive news. Tomas Rosicky will play on Friday night for the U21s.”
“We are going into a very important period so it is good to have key players available.”
