Olympique de Marseille vs Strasbourg: Match Preview
Deprived of three of the most important players, all suspended (Payet, Sarr and Kamara), André Villas-Boas’s men settled for a point v Angers, with the two teams ultimately unable to break the deadlock.
Despite the disappointing result, Marseille’s unbeaten run remained unscathed; since November 2nd The Olympians strung together twelve games without feeling the sour taste of defeat, ten in the league, two in the Coupe, with the latest on in there being child’s play and easy 3-0 dispatch of US Granville.
Villas-Boas’s pupils hasn’t lost at Vélodrome following August 10th and season opener against Reims, since when Olympique racked up seven wins and three draws, usually with a two-goal margin until Angers happened.
Strasbourg rode their luck in the Principality of Monaco and made every shot count, extending their good run of form by getting the better off frustrated and disenfranchised AS Monaco in a 1-3 win.
After less than ideal start to the season, Le Racing found their groove; their all-or-nothing style brought them some remarkable victories, as well some shameful defeats but taking the broader picture into account, Strasbourg are fighting for Europe and I guess that’s what matters.
Aside from most recent trip to Monaco (their consecutive win away from home), Thierry Laurey’s students aren’t doing very well outside their home ground and were really struggling for points in earlier parts of the season; seven losses, a draw and three wins, all of them coming relatively lately.

Olympique de Marseille vs Strasbourg: Prediction
Watching both of these sides, their matches in recent period, I came to conclusion that we’re up for a treat in this fixture. With Marseille’s squad well rested, with their creative players back in the matchday squad, they really should overcome Strasbourg fairly easily. They’re superb at home and Strasbourg’s balls-to-the-wall style fit them perfectly, allowing their rapid players much desired space to play in.
Also, for similar reasons, I think we’re up for goal bonanza; The Olympians have been trigger-happy at home lately, mixed in with Strasbourg’s maverick approach might mean goals will flow freely.
