Marseille vs Rennes
France Ligue 1
Date: Sunday 29th September 2019
Kick off at 20:00 UK/ 21:00 CET
Venue: Stade Velodrome.
The game to close out the 8th week of Ligue 1 will be between Marseille and Rennes and whilst both teams have fallen to shock results, they have also both impressed too this season early in the campaign.
Marseille come into this game in 6th place with 12 points and are just three behind leaders and eternal rivals PSG. In midweek they drew 0-0 with bottom club Dijon and this was a major disappointment for them, it was also their 2nd draw in a row.
Marseille have a better away record at the moment and at home they would be ranked in 15th place with 4 points from their first 3 games.
Rennes are in 9th place and with 11 points they are just a point behind their hosts so could take them over with a win here. In midweek they lost 1-0 to Nantes and after a bright start to the season the club have now gone their last four matches without tasting victory. Away from home they have the 3rd best record but be careful they have not won on the road in their last two games.

Marseille vs Rennes: Prediction
Marseille will start as the favourites, but Rennes have had some joy coming to the Stade Velodrome and it has been interesting that the club travelled down much earlier than anticipated. There is a togetherness at Rennes, and they could have the tools in the box to produce problems here for the home side.
This is a risky choice, but we think Rennes can win the game and are also great value to do so. Watch out for M’Baye Niang who should be able to have some good chances and we will back him to score in this match.
