Manuel Pellegrini charges Man City to go all out against PSG

Man City manager Manuel Pellegrini has charged his boys to be conscious defensively and score goals to qualify for the semi finals of the Champions League as they host PSG in the return leg at Etihad Stadium on Tuesday.

City secured a vital 2-2 draw against PSG in Paris fortnight ago, thanks to Kevin de Bruyne and Fernandinho goals for Man City after Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Adrian Rabiot sent PSG ahead.

PSG will heavily count on Zlatan Ibrahimovic who has been involved in 30 Legue 1 goals and scored or assist in last eight Champions League games.

PSG boss Luarent Blanc issued a warning to Man City about Zlatan’s potentials ahead of the game saying : “If we create as many chances as the first leg, I think his conversion rate will be a lot higher.”

And Manuel Pellegrini’s thinks Man City can only win the game if his charges pay attention to defence and utilised goal scoring opportunities.

“We must have good defending and good attacking. We must be a strong team because we play a good team.

“The most important aspect of this team is to score. Do we think we need to draw 0-0? That’s not the way we normally play.

“I don’t think one of the team’s is a favourite. We went there to try and win the game and tomorrow (Tuesday) we will do exactly the same.”

PSG seek for second Semi-final since 1995 while City are biding for their first Champions League Semi’s spot.

But Pellegrini admits Semi-final qualification will be a great achievement but won’t be carried away with that.

“The important thing is to focus on getting to the Semi-final, after that you look at your opponent.”

“If we arrive at the semi it will be an important achievement but we won’t be happy just with that. We must continue.”
