UEFA Champions League is back at Old Trafford as Manchester United host PSV Eindhoven in the top of the table clash in Group B. The match is scheduled to kick-off on Wednesday, 25th November 2015 at at 19.45GMT.
The match is of higher significance for both sides as whoever wins could go top of the group. The Red Devils need a win against PSV to secure their qualification into the knockout stages . While, the Dutch side must not lose on Wednseday night to keep their qualification hopes alive with the result from Wolfsburg-CSKA playing a big part in the proceedings.
Regarding statistics and paper work, United are having a nice season, seeing that they are just a point below the Premier League leaders Leicester City after 13 games and are just 3 points away from Champions League knockout stages.
United are group B leaders with seven points, one point above PSV and Wolfsburg and 3 points above the bottom placed CSKA.
PSV are also on a smooth run in Eredivise, having lost just one game from 13 and are sitting 3rd on the League table and just 4 points below Ajax the league leaders.
PSV were victorious in the first leg encounter against Manchester United, and have lost two of their away Champions League games this season.
Manchester United – Team News
United are hit with injury woes, given that Martial, Rooney, Carrick, Fellaini and Valencia all missed out on their last game due to injury with already out Luke Shaw who is on Long term recovery.
The injury list kept growing for Louis Van Gaal after the game at Vicarage Road as Ander Herrerra and Phil jones suffered Hamstring and foot problem respectively. The good news is Rooney could return to the line up against PSV as he was previously missing due to illness.
Manchester United – Predicted Line-up
PSV Eindhoven – Team News
PSV also have their injury problem as Menno Koch is still out with ruptured anterior cruciate ligament, whereas Jetro Willems and Maxime Lestienne are also expected to miss this week’s game.
PSV Eindhoven – Predicted Line-up
I’ll say that United have the upper hand in this game, having gone unbeaten in their last four games in all competition, and PSV are known for a disappointing away record in the Champions League with their last away victory was a 1-0 win in November 2007 against CSKA Moscow.
Even though United they are finding it difficult to score, they have a bold defense which have allowed just nine goals past them. Playing at home with United fans singing in their cacophonous voices, it would be easier for United to snatch victory.
