Manchester United vs Crystal Palace
English Premier League
Date: 4 February 2023, Saturday
Kick-off at 15:00 UK / 16:00 CET
Venue: Old Trafford (Manchester).
Manchester United will be looking to return to winning ways on Saturday afternoon when they play host to Crystal Palace in the 22nd round of the Premier League.
The Red Devils suffered a 3-2 defeat at the hands of section leaders Arsenal two weeks ago at Emirates Stadium.
It was the maiden failure for Erik ten Hag’s troops since the Boxing Day. United dropped to the fourth position in the league table as a consequence.
They are still three points clear off Tottenham Hotspur in fifth place and they have a game in hand on Antonio Conte’s men, meaning the place in the next term of the UEFA Champions League seems pretty close at this stage of the season.
The Red Devils will come into this tie as big favorites knowing that Crystal Palace have not been pulling up any trees since the World Cup break.
The Glaziers won just one of the previous seven games in all competitions. They have found goals extremely hard to come by in the process.
To make things worse for head coach Patrick Vieira, his top scorer Wilfried Zaha is allegedly ruled out for several weeks through injury.
Manchester United have been very tough to break down since the Premier League restart and we can hardly see joy for Palace forwards on Saturday at Old Trafford.
Manchester United vs Crystal Palace Head-to-head
- Manchester United have tradition to back them up as well here given they won 17, drew 3, and lost 5 of the last 25 home encounters with Crystal Palace.
- The two sides shared spoils in a 1-1 stalemate when they met each other in the reverse fixture played three weeks ago at Selhurst Park (Palace notched a late equalizer from the free-kick).
- Each of the last four competitive head to head games between these teams finished with fewer than three goals scored.
Manchester United vs Crystal Palace Prediction
Crystal Palace have scored only one goal in the last four Premier League games. Knowing how good Manchester United have been since the restart under ten Hag, we like the home win to nil pick at the 2.10 odds.
Marcus Rashford has been scoring goals for fun after the World Cup break and we fancy him to find the back of the net on Saturday as well at the 2.05 odds.
