Manchester United return for Felipe Anderson with £40m bid

Manchester United are preparing to table an improved transfer bid worth £40m for Lazio winger Felipe Anderson.

The 22-year old Brazilian attacker has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford this winter and it is understood that the Red Devils do not want to drag this any further and seal the deal as soon as possible.

Manchester United have already witnessed a £37.6m bid rejected for the Brazil international, but the player himself admitted while speaking to Sky Sports that he may leave Lazio this month.

One of the reasons for Lazio to reject the earlier bid was the nature of the payment structure. As understood from our sources in Rome, Man United were offering 30m upfront with an additional £7.6m as add-ons.

Lazio, who signed the Anderson from Santos in the summer of 2013 believe the evaluation is behind their valuation of the player who has a contract until the end of 2020 season.

Manchester United are now ready to return with an improved offer which they believe will be good enough to let them start contract negotiations with winger.

Felipe Anderson has scored 10 goals in Serie A last season and he continues his good performance for the club who found themselves 9th in the league table this season.

Van Gaal’s United are going through a phobia in front of goal this season and the coach had taken much of the criticism for the team’s inability to score goals.

His behavior with media and latest comments to fans asking them to be content with the recent performances of team may not win him many friends.

It is highly debatable as if United must buy a winger or a genuine forward this season. As spotted by my fellow writer SJ Frampton, United must buy the versatile goal scoring German and this could be the ultimate fix for the side’s problem this season.
