Manchester United are interested in signing James Rodriguez from Real Madrid, according to reports in Spain. The Colombian who has reportedly fallen out of terms with Madrid head coach Rafa Benitez is likely to cost Red Devils a transfer fee around €80million.
The 24-year old playmaker has been left frustrated on various occasions after finding it difficult to get enough playing under the Madrid born coach and is no more in talking terms with Benitez.
James, who has four-and-a-half years remaining on his contract at the Bernabeu is considering his options if situations won’t change in the coming months.
Interests are said to be high on the World Cup 2014 Golden Boot winners, with various European elites looking at their options and interestingly United were one of the potential destinations we have identified earlier this month.
The latest link connecting James Rodriguez to Manchester United came through Spanish journalist Jose Luis Sanchez on popular late-night television show El Chiringuito, claimed on Tuesday that United are “very interested” in the 24-year-old.
It is not secret that the Man United chief Ed Woodward is chasing various high-profile players in an attempt to resurrect the team to the glory days they were once, under the management of Sir Alex Ferguson.
The transfer fee which United has to pay will be around the 80 million Euro, the same Real Madrid paid to Monaco 18 months ago and also they have to compete with Chelsea and PSG to strike a potential deal.
An outcome of this definitely depends on if Real Madrid decide to stick with Rafa Benitez, beyond the current season.
If reports from various Spain based media outlets are to be believed, he may not be in charge for the the next season which will see Rodriguez remain at the Spanish capital until the end of his contract in 2020.
