Manchester United fans losing patience with Depay

Manchester United fans are growing impatient on the poor performance of their new Number 7 Memphis Depay.

Memphis Depay arrived at Old Trafford in a whooping transfer fee of £25 million last summer after his superb performance for PSV last season, but Depay has been in the shadows in recent weeks and he was an unused substitute in Van Gaal’s bench before the international week.

Many Manchester United fans now see Depay as a wasted investment unlike his fellow new arrivals Schneiderlin, Matteo and Martial who seem to be on top of their games. And at the same time, the local lad Lingard has made of the opportunities in the absence of the Dutch youngster.

Memphis Depay has admitted that he is under performing and has vowed to get himself back into United’s starting eleven.

The youngster started well in his first few games at Old Trafford but has been struggling in the recent weeks and has fallen short of expectation, he has been in the bench in recent weeks and sometimes unused substitute.

Depay admits that football life is difficult for him on the bench for Manchester United but has promised to live up to expectations and reproduce the form he showed at PSV last season.

“Of course it’s difficult when you’re on the bench but it’s going better right now and it’s also going better on the training pitch,” Depay told NOS. “So if I get my chance to play, I will take it.”

“I think lots of things changed. I’m in a new club right now, it’s a different level [to the Eredivisie]. Such things are playing a big role and you’re trying to find your way and it was a bit easy at the start but then I fell back and you could see it in the way I played.”

“But you can assume that I’m busy with working on that and getting back to the top.”

“I feel fit and I’m trying to show on the training ground that I’m doing my best to perform well. People are used to see me score and that shall also come, it just takes a bit longer now but you’ll have to find that form again.”

Manchester United will play away at Watford in the match-day 13 of the English Premier League on Saturday, November 21, 2015. Currently sitting 4th in the table with 2 points below the joint league leaders, United will be keen to keep the title hopes alive by taking no less than 3 points from the tie.
