Barcelona and Manchester United are reported to be entering into a bidding war for the signing of €85m rated Chelsea star Eden Hazard.
The Belgian international who was key in Chelsea’s title winning 2014/15 English Premier League season has failed to rise up to his reputation this term.
His below par performances coupled with the Blues’ poor state in the league table has forced the 24 year-old to switch sides at the end of the season.
He was heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid with the White’s head coach Zinadine Zidane a great admirer of Hazard’s talents, but the recent transfer ban implicated on the La Liga side might put their bitter rivals Barcelona in the prime seat.
According to the latest reports by BuzzSports, Manchester United joined in the race for the player who is also linked with a move towards French club PSG.
Hazard has only renewed his contract with Chelsea in in February in a deal worth around £200,000 per-week.
As per rumors in Spanish media, Barcelona wants the Belgian as a replacement for Neymar, who is speculated to be unhappy with the Spanish justice system over the alleged irregularities involving his transfer to Barcelona.
Manchester United’s executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward is keen to make a number of marquee signings next season and Hazard is one of the key names in their priority list which also includes Real Madrid playmaker James Rodríguez.
An fierce bidding battle is on the cards with both Barcelona and Manchester United no short in financial firepower. We may well see Hazard’s transfer surpassing the £86m record fee paid by Real Madrid for Bale from Tottenham in 2013/14.
