Manchester City vs Huddersfield Preview and Predictions

Manchester City vs Huddersfield Town
England – Premier League
Date: Sunday, 6 May 2018
Kick-Off at 13:30 UK
Venue: Etihad Stadium (Manchester).

The 0-2 defeat to Everton significantly halted Huddersfield’s ambitions of avoiding the drop at the end of the Premier League campaign. The Terriers are still three points above the drop zone, but they have three super tough fixtures against league’s heavyweights upcoming.

The first one is to be played on Sunday afternoon when David Wagner and his en travel to Manchester to take on the newly-crowned EPL champions at Etihad Stadium. Looking at the most recent displays from Pep Guardiola’s machinery, one can hardly be optimistic about the Terriers’ chances of avoiding the disaster on Sunday.

Even though the Citizens have already booked the trophy, they still play at the highest possible level and they will come into this off the back of bagging as many as 12 goals in three consecutive league wins over Tottenham Hotspur, Swansea City and West Ham United.

Manchester City vs Huddersfield Town: Head-to-head

Interestingly, it’s Huddersfield who lead the head to head tie versus Man City. The Terriers won 18 and lost 16 of 59 meetings with the Citizens. Obviously, most of these matches happened way back in the past.

This will be the fourth H2H encounter in this season. Huddersfield Town held Man City to a goalless draw in the first leg of the FA Cup tie back in February this year, but the Citizens destroyed their rivals 5-1 at Etihad Stadium in the reverse fixture.

The league earlier this season clash saw a narrow 1-2 win for Citizens at The John Smith’s Stadium.

Manchester City vs Huddersfield Town: Prediction

Wagner’s troops have obvious issue with scoring as they notched just two goals in last seven league matches. Given they are now up against the league’s best defensive line, we can hardly see the Terriers on the scoresheet. You can have Manchester City to keep a clean sheet at the 1.44 odds.

Keeping things tight at the back will be a huge challenge for the visitors here. Leroy Sane, Gabriel Jesus, Raheem Sterling, David Silva and Fernando Silva were all super inspired recently and we expect them to produce another high-profile display against the relegation strugglers here. The second bet is Manchester City to win by three or more goals at 1.72 odds.
