Mallorca vs Real Betis
Spanish La Liga
Date: 20 August 2022, Saturday
Kick-off at 18:30 UK / 19:30 CET
Venue: Visit Mallorca Estadi (Palma de Mallorca).
Mallorca have conceded just one goal in five preseason friendlies. They have carried this superb defensive form to the start of the new La Liga campaign, keeping Athletic Bilbao at bay at San Mames Barria.
The team led by charismatic Mexican manager Javier Aguirre held Bilbao to a goalless draw on Monday evening.
They are thus still unbeaten this summer, going for three wins and draws apiece in six matches in total.
It is worth noting that Aguirre’s men have dispatched Genoa 0-1 and held Napoli to a 1-1 draw among other exhibitions in the preseason.
It will be very interesting to see how the hosts will cope with Real Betis on Saturday afternoon when the two teams take on each other in the second round of the season.
Betis eased past Elche 3-0 at their Estadio Benito Villamarin last time out but they had a huge help from John Donald who got sent off 14 minutes into the game for Elche.
Striker Borja Iglesias opened the scoring for Betis, while the remaining two goals came from defensive midfielder Juanmi.
Los Beticos have now scored as many as eight goals in the previous three games, including a 2-2 draw to Real Zaragoza and a 3-1 victory over Fiorentina in the final two exhibitions.
Last but not least, we have to mention that Mallorca have only lost 6 of 19 home matches in the previous term of La Liga.
Mallorca vs Real Betis Head-to-head
- Betis have only managed to celebrate 4 wins in the last 17 visits to Palma de Mallorca, and they are considered the bookies’ favorites here.
- Los Beticos, however, did win four and drawn two of the previous six encounters with Mallorca.
- Each of the last five head to head meetings between the two teams saw goals scored at both ends.
Mallorca vs Real Betis Prediction
Looking at Mallorca’s performances this summer, we have a pretty clear picture of what to expect on Saturday. The hosts will park the bus and wait for their chances from counter-attacks.
Since Mallorca have done very well defensively under Aguirre this summer, we would not be surprised to see them hold another rival to a goalless draw here. The Under 2.5 goals FT pick is well worth backing at the 1.66 odds, while you can also chase the stalemate at the 3.20 odds.
