Malaga vs Getafe
Spanish La Liga
Date: Saturday, 19 May 2018
Kick-Off at 17:30 UK / 18:30 CET
Venue: Estadio La Rosaleda, Malaga.
Getafe could not keep the impressive form going last weekend when they fell 0-1 at home to Atletico Madrid. The defeat left them without a chance for the Europa League dream coming into the final day fixture with the relegated Malaga side as Sevilla went beyond the reach with the draw against fierce rivals Real Betis seven days ago at Estadio Benito Villamarin.
Azulones are now three points behind Los Rojiblancos who own the better head to head record, meaning the bets Getafe could do is finish eighth with a win here. The visitors no doubts come into the game as massive form favourites since they’ll be up against an outfit which lost six of last seven league fixtures. The Anchovies could avoid the rock bottom of the standings with a win here given Las Palmas are two points above them in 19th.
Malaga lead the head to head tie by two wins coming into their 26th encounter with Getafe.
The Anchovies were the dominant side in the history of H2H games at La Rosaleda where they won 8 and lost just 1 of 12 meetings against Azulones.
Interestingly, just one of last seven head to head affairs saw both teams on target, each finishing in home wins.
Jose Bordalas can be proud of his team’s campaign in the first season since joining the elite class from Segunda last term. Getafe will definitely finish the competition in the top half of the standings, while a victory over the last-placed outfit would grant them the 8th-place finish.
This, combined with the fact the visitors are heavy form favourites after winning four of last six league games, forces us to take the 2.20 odds offered for the away win pick. Getafe have been very tough to break down recently after shipping only three goals in last six matches. As they are up against the rock-bottomed side on Saturday, we have to chase the visitors to keep a clean sheet at the odds of 3.00.
