Germany – Bundesliga

Bayern Munich will be aiming to raise the pressure on leaders RB Leipzig when they arrive in Mainz hoping to make it six in a row at the Opel Arena in Saturday’s Bundesliga clash.
Mainz vs Bayern Munich: Match Preview
The wobbly Nullfunfer opened the scoreline in last Saturday’s Bundesliga contest, title challenging Monchengladbach equalized quickly enough but had to wait till the twilight of the game to ultimately break down unfortunate visitors.
It was 13th defeat of the season for Achim Beierlorzer and his men as they’re still clinging on the brink of relegation places at 15th, just one point away from Werder and possible return to Zweite.
With nine points collected both home and away, Mainz is one Bundesliga team that hasn’t heard for a draw; there’s no middle ground with them as their all-or-nothing mentality brought us some spectacular scorelines, magnificent wins as well as some heartbreaking and unlucky defeats.
The defending champions Bayern Munich fired an ominous warning to the rest of the Bundesliga; The Bavarians extended their winning run to five games as they put five past Schalke 04 at Allianz Arena on Saturday.
With Leipzig slipping at Frankfurt, Hans-Dieter Flick and his men has finally caught up with them, with just one point dividing the two and denying Bayern of their rightful place.
On the road, The Bavarians has been often leaky but mostly successful, winning five and drawing two of their nine games away from Munich, with the latest two being huge success’s for Lewandowski & Co, bringing back the memories of older, predominant, pre-Kovac days.
Edimilson Fernandes and Stefan Bell are long absent for Beierlorzer’s side, now joined by Pierre Kunde, who’ll sit this one out due to suspension.
Javier Martinez and Niklas Süle are out for the champions; Kingsley Coman and Lucas Hernandez are very close to return; both have been seen at the training center but are unlikely to feature so soon following tough injuries.

Mainz vs Bayern Munich: Prediction
Since there’s no money in going after Bayern’s triumphs, we’re after goals. Lots of them. The Bavarians has scored or conceded (but mostly scored) at least four goals in six of their last seven excursions.
Under Flick, they’re once more meat-grinding machine everyone in Germany fears, against whom there is no defense and I can’t see them leaving Opel Arena without putting up another few in the net.
With most of their goals coming after the break, one can hope they’ll continue in the same manner here after putting four past Hertha just last weekend and two (while conceding once) the week before. With Mainz’s defense as it is (or the lack of it), the odds are just too tasty for me to pass on.
