Madagascar vs Tunisia
Africa Cup of Nations
Date: Thursday, 11 July 2019
Kick off at 20:00 UK / 21:00 CET
Venue: Al Salam Stadium (Cairo).
With three consecutive draws in the group stages and a win coming on penalties after extra time in the round of sixteen, it is a miracle that Tunisia’s campaign is still alive, kicking and into the next round.
Nevertheless, the clash with Madagascar on Thursday will be the third straight time that they have managed to make into the quarterfinals of the Africa Cup of Nations.
Their previous round fixture against Ghana saw them create a huge upset for the latter after the scores were tied at 1-1 at the end of regulation and extra time.
Alain Giresse’s men broke the deadlock through Khenissi in the 73rd minute and it would have sealed them the game, had it not been for an own goal by Bedoui in the dying minutes of stoppage time.
His side had their skins saved by their goalkeeper after Ekuban failed to win the battle of nerves as he stepped up to take the spot kick.
Things were no different for Madagascar in their previous round as well. They narrowly made it through to the quarterfinals on penalties after being held to a 2-2 draw by their foes, DR Congo. The team took the lead on two occasions but failed to thwart their opponents from equalizing every single time.
Nicolas Dupuis’s men were certainly a lot fiercer in the group stages, where they posted two wins and a draw to book their spot in the previous round.
Following their clash, the winning side will set up a semi-final tie with the team that progresses from the fixture between Senegal and Benin.

Madagascar vs Tunisia Prediction
The quarterfinal game between Madagascar and Tunisia on Thursday is likely to see Tunisia come out on top.
Tunisia have been far better defensively in their campaign so far, than at offense, and have conceded not more than three goals in their last four matches at the end of regulation time.
The squad have also been successful in keeping a hold of the majority share in possession in most of their games and are likely to restrict their foes from creating any chances in their defensive third.
Madagascar have scored seven goals so far, and are the second best-attacking team in the cup.
However, Tunisia have not conceded a goal in the first forty-five minutes in any of their previous games, and so we can rule out the chances of either side finding the back of the net before the break.
The game is likely to see Tunisia break the deadlock in the second half and quite possibly the win at the last blast of the whistle.
