Lyon vs Nantes Prediction & Match Preview

Lyon vs Nantes French Ligue 1 Prediction by LeagueLane

Lyon vs Nantes
French Ligue 1
Date: Saturday, 28th September 2019
Kick off at 12:30 UK/ 13:30 CET
Venue: Stade Olympique Lyonnais.

This match will kick off at a very early hour for Ligue 1 matches and this is because some teams like Lyon are involved in the Champions League taking place the week after.

Lyon have not started well in the league and have dropped too many points so far. They come into this game in 11th place with 9 points and are six behind league leaders PSG.

Last weekend they played PSG in a crunch match at home but a Neymar goal was enough to beat them and they lost this important match 1-0. In midweek they drew 2-2 with Brest, this was seen as a disappointing result as they were 2-0 up. It just isn’t clicking with Lyon yet but maybe that can be expected with a new coach in Sylvinho. However the club have not won in 5 games.

Nantes are in 4th place and have had a superb start by their standards. They are four points ahead of Lyon and have won 4 games from their last five. Their last match was a 1-0 win at home over Rennes. Their away form isn’t too clever where they have already lost 66% of their games.

Lyon vs Nantes: Head to Head

  • Last season this fixture ended 1-1.
  • Nantes have a poor record of wins at Lyon and have no victories in the last 15 years.
  • There is a 60% chance to see under 2.5 goals.

Lyon vs Nantes: Prediction

We expect to see a very exciting game of football. Lyon will have one eye on the Champions League but they are under big pressure to perform here and get the points.

Therefore, I am going to back the home team because we think even though Nantes have been positive and got off to a solid start this is more based on their home form and we are not convinced by how they will travel.

Along with that, I will also back Moussa Dembele who has shown a lot of promise in the early weeks of the season.

Lyon vs Nantes: Bet Tips:

  • Lyon to beat Nantes at 1.50 (1/2)
  • Anytime goalscorer: Moussa Dembele (Lyon) at 2.10 (11/10).
