Ludogorets vs Suduva
2017/18 UEFA Europa League Play-off
Date: Thursday, 17th August 2017
Kick off at 19:30 UK/ 20:30 CET
Venue: Ludogorets Arena.
Suduva have been enjoying a thrilling campaign in this term of Europa League qualifiers, but they will have a mission impossible to enter the group stage of the competition past Bulgarian Ludogorets.
The first leg is set to be played this Thursday at Ludogorets Arena where the hosts will be massive favourites to clinch a convincing victory and close the tie ahead of the rematch in Lithuania.
Georgi Dermenzhiev had to leave Ludogorets’ bench after elimination to Hapoel Be’er Sheva in the third qualifying round of Champions League.
The Bulgarian champions will thus not feature the group phase of the most elite football competition for the second year in a row, but making it to the group stage of Europa League is an imperative for the new head coach Dimitar Dimitrov.
Ludogorets took ten points from the opening four rounds of the new First League season in Bulgaria and they will come into the game with Suduva in high spirits after the weekend’s 3-1 win over Vereya on the home patch.
The Lithuanians will also enter the match in a good mood as they held the defending champions and the current A Lyga leaders Zalgiris to a 1-1 draw on Saturday afternoon.
Karolis Laukzemis is the man to look after as he is the team’s top scorer with seven goals in A Lyga and two more in Europa League.
Ludogorets vs Suduva: Head to head
This will be the first ever head to head meeting between the two teams.
Ludogorets vs Suduva: Prediction
Both teams play rather attacking football and we can generally expect a high-scoring affair.
We expect the hosts to bag at least three goals with ease, but we would not be surprised to see the visitors on target at the same time.
