Louis van Gaal wants to spoil Leicester’s party at Old Trafford

Louis van Gaal wants Man United to postpone Leicester City’s title win to a week later by defeating the Foxes on Sunday.

Claudio Ranieri’s side will be crown as Champions of the League if they record victory against United but Van Gaal feels his side can delay Leicester City.

“I think we have to beat Leicester because we are still in the race for the first positions so we have to beat them.

“We cannot allow that they are the champions this weekend at Old Trafford,” the Dutchman said.

“I think they shall be the champion a week later, so we don’t spoil the party, just postpone it a little bit.”

Van Gaal added that Leicester’s performance till this point is very important and has help to give different direction to England League champions.

“It is good for the Premier League and the sport of football that not always the same teams are the champion.”

Man United are fifth with 59 points just four points to third and fourth position and the Dutch tactician says the top four finish is not over.

“We are fighting for the qualification of the Champions League and we are still in the FA Cup.

“So we have to fight for something and we shall do it hopefully, we can beat Leicester City”,  he added.

The teams played out a 1-1 draw when they met at the King Power Stadium for the first leg Premier League fixture on November 2015. Jamie Vardy found the back of the net in the 24th minute of the match; which marked him scoring in 11 consecutive Premier League matches to break former Manchester United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy’s long standing record.
