Louis van Gaal has 90 minutes to save Manchester United job

As the bad run of results continue, Manchester United boss Louis Van Gaal faces the axe if his side fails to beat Chelsea at Old Trafford tonight.

The Red Devils have succumbed to their fourth consecutive loss on the Boxing Day against Stoke City and have gone seven games in all competitions without a win.

The Dutch boss has also hinted in the post-match press meeting after Saturday’s defeat that he may resign with mutual consent if the results do not improve.

The negative body language of the players on the field and Van Gaal’s latest comments that the confidence in the camp is low may constitute to his premature exit from the club.

Ed Woodward, the executive vice-chairman of Manchester United is reported to have conducted conference with the Glazer family to discuss on the future of the match, according to The Sun.

According to the various rumors spread across the British media, Jose Mourinho is the favorite to take over the reins at Old Traffford.

The Portuguese managers is also the bookmakers’ favorite to replace Van Gaal should, but reports also suggest that Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has an interest to replace Rafael Benitez with Jose Mourinho.

Ultimately, time is running out for the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss to save his job, as the results speak for itself for the poor state of affairs at the Manchester club.

A section of fans were vocal after the defeat at Stoke and demands an apology from the manager for poor show. At the same time, media never wasted a moment in speculating his departure without a cross check on the reality of matters at Manchester United.

As things stand, if results doesn’t improve we may well see Louis Van Gaal gone and as things stand ex-Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho may replace him. Either ways, United fans can be only hopeful as the two managers share same philosophy of football.
