Liverpool target Giuseppe Rossi to solve goalscoring problems

The recent injuries in the Liverpool squad has forced Jurgen Klopp to look for reinforcements and he may turn to Fiorentina striker Giuseppe Rossi to solve their woes in front of goal.

Philippe Coutinho and Dejan Lovren joins long list of injuries after pulling their hamstring during Tuesday’s Capital One cup win against Stoke City.

Coutinho, Dejan Lovren, Skrtel, Gomez, Henderson, Rossiter, Sturridge, Origi, Ings, Flanagan and Sakho are the players who are out with injuries

Jurgen Klopp had talked down any need of additions to the squad when he was appointed at Anfield in October 2015. But now it is imminent that he must look into the transfer market and bring in new players.

A striker and defender are necessary and the Reds are already monitoring a number of players and One of the players they are monitoring is Fiorentina striker Giuseppe Rossi.

The 28-year old who missed the entire 2014-15 season due to injury has only scored 2 goals from 14 appearances this season. He has only made 31 appearances in 4 season for the Violas and scored 16 goals.

The player who was scoring a-plenty with Villarreal in the La Liga has witnessed his time in Serie A marred by injuries.

Liverpool are on the lowest goal-scoring record in their 124-year history with just 22 goals in 20 league games this season. The form of Benteke is a worry for the Reds, while midfield has struggled to contribute to the tally.

Fiorentina executive vice-chairman, Mario Cognigni, has revealed they may let Rossi leave on a loan deal and in that case this would be a welcome deal for the Reds.

At the same time, it would be interesting to see if Klopp may think of recalling Mario Balotelli from loan.

Rossi looks like a fair deal as he has the experience in the Premier League during his three seasons with Manchester United as a youngster from 2004 to 2007. He has made 5 senior appearance for United and 11 for Newcastle United while on loan.

Schalke defender Joel Matip, who will be out of contract at the end of the season is also on Klopp’s radar. The German club are reportedly desperate to keep him but Liverpool may get him for a knock down price in January.
