Lille vs PSG: Preview and Predictions

Lille vs PSG French Ligue 1 Predictions 3rd February 2017

Lille vs PSG
France – Ligue 1
Date: Saturday, 3rd February 2017
Kick off at 16:00 UK/ 17:00 CET
Venue: Stade Pierre Mauroy (Lille)

Even though Lille has been able to pick up some points lately nobody will expect them to get anything in this game when they take on the mighty PSG on Saturday afternoon.

Lille are in 17th position and do need the win to escape the bottom three. They will take heart in that their last game here ended in victory over Strasbourg but it was just their 4th home win of the season from 11 games. Lille has certainly shown more of themselves in the past few months after a terrible start but they remain unpredictable and not consistent enough and could still be relegated because of it.

For PSG they just get better, in midweek the club reached the Coupe de la Ligue final where they will play Monaco in what should be a mouthwatering clash. The only disappointment is that they had Kylian Mbappe sent off in the game.

In the league they are 11 points clear and the title is theirs. Away from home they have lost 2 of their last 4 matches but hopes shouldn’t be raised for Lille based on this.

Lille vs PSG: Head to Head

  • Home or away PSG has won the last 5 meetings in a row
  • The last time Lille beat PSG was 15 games ago in 2012
  • The last 3 matches that PSG won in Lille ended in the same scoreline of 1-0

Lille vs PSG: Prediction

For Lille the game plan against PSG will be simple, put 11 men behind the ball and defend deep. What has been interesting is that Lille has scored in their last 5 home matches and PSG have had a leaky defence lately. PSG are too huge odds on so we will check out other valuable markets.
