Lille vs Nice
French Ligue 1
Date: Friday, 1st February 2019
Kick off at 19:45 UK/ 20:45 CET
Venue: Stade Pierre-Mauroy (Lille).
Lille v Nice has all the makings of being a classic game and we should be in for an exciting 90 minutes when these two great teams clash. The only worry is how quick the Stade Pierre-Mauroy will be ready as there has been heavy snow in France for the last 2 days.
Presently Lille’s only threat to 2nd place is Lyon who are just three points behind them, but the good news is that Lille have a 7 point lead over 3rd place. The league is out of sight given that Lille are 13 points behind PSG and PSG have played two less games.
Lille are in very good form as they have won their last 3 games in a row and at home, they won their last game 2-1 over Amiens. This was significant because their recent home form has not been good and even though they have lost just one game here all season they have only gained 6 points at home from their last 15 available and have been drawing too many games.
Nice are in 7th place and 9 points behind Lille, and if they win here, they could really strike a blow to Lille’s automatic Champions League qualification and give themselves a chance to have a go at the same time. The club have been in good form and come here undefeated in their last 4 games.
Patrick Vieira’s side have the 4th best away record in the league but from their last 4 games they have drawn 3 of them but they have only lost twice this season.
The worrying aspect of Nice’s play away from home is that they have scored just 9 goals all season. Then again, they have only conceded 8 times which only PSG have a better record at.

Lille vs Nice: Prediction
Nice usually have a good time playing Lille and even though they are away from home their form has been decent and they have a very solid away record.
Lille are facing one of their toughest tests of the season and this game looks like being a very close call.
What we do feel confident in is that we won’t see a fast start to the game. This will be played in the evening and conditions could be freezing. This is a game that will get better as it goes on as both teams will start cautious but then take risks later on.
We expect that there could be more goals in the 2nd half. Allan Saint-Maximin came in for us last week and we will stick with the inform striker to score again on Friday for Nice.
