Levante vs Valencia
Spain – La Liga
Date: Sunday, 2 September 2018
Kick-Off at 11:00 UK / 12:00 CET
Venue: Estadio Ciudad de Valencia, Valencia.
The Bats will be looking for their inaugural victory of the new Primera Division campaign on Sunday morning when they are to take on local rivals Levante in the small Valencia derby. The visitors, who made the top-four finish in the previous term of the competition (earned them the right to return to the Champions League groups after some time), will need a serious turnaround in form to stay on track on matching such success.
Marcelino’s troops took just one point from two games so far. Can the local derby mark a breakthrough for them? Levante opened the season in a surprisingly strong fashion, beating Real Betis 0-3 away at Benito Villamarin with a brace from Jose Luis Morales. However, the Frogs failed to back up such result falling 1.2 at home to Celta Vigo last time out. Morales was also on the scoreline there, bagging the consolation goal from the spot late in the second half.
Levante vs Valencia: Head-to-head
Valencia lead the head to head tie by six wins coming into 23rd encounter with the Frogs.
The Bats took four points from last term encounters with Levante.
Valencia won three, drew one and lost one of past five head to head outings.
Levante vs Valencia: Prediction
Whilst Marcelino has reasons to be satisfied with his side’s performance on the opening day when they outplayed Atletico Madrid in a 1-1 draw at Mestalla, the second round fixture saw them do nothing to harm Espanyol away at RCDE Stadium.
The Spanish manager will obviously need some time to bed in the new arrivals as Valencia simply have to perform much better up front with the firepower on disposal. Kevin Gameiro, Michy Batshuayi and Denis Cheryshev should all be excellent signings and we believe they just need some time to accommodate to the new club.
Levante’s defensive line revealed plenty of holes last weekend against Celta Vigo and we see the mentioned likes exploiting these to the max in the first game of Sunday’s La Liga program. The away win is worth backing at 2.00 odds, while you can alternatively try with the Bats to score two or more goals at 1.90 odds.
