Lens vs PSG
France – Ligue 1
Date: Thursday, 10 September 2020
Kick off at 20:00 UK/ 21:00 CET
Venue: Stade Bollaert-Delelis (Lens).
Lens are back in Ligue 1 after their promotion and their campaign could not have started any harder as they will take on the champions PSG on Thursday evening in only their second game of the season.
This is sure to be quite a match given that newly promoted teams usually start well, but up against the quality of PSG, it is no surprise to find out that a home win is being quoted at 3.50 and above.
Lens lost 3 of their seven pre-season games with their last game being an encouraging 1-0 win over Dijon. They also played Belgian side Genk two times where they drew and won 3-2.
Lens lost their first game of the season when they were beaten 2-1 away to Nice.
PSG had a memorable season as they won the treble and also reached the Champions League final. They came up short in the final losing 1-0 to Bayern Munich but it was still an historic night for the club as they became the first French team to reach a final since Monaco in 2004.
Because PSG’s season ended so late this will be their first game of the new season.
Head to Head and Previous Meetings
- The clubs have not played at this ground since 2014 when PSG won 3-1.
- PSG have scored 7 goals in their last two meetings with Lens.
- 5 of the last seven games has seen both teams to score.
Lens v PSG: Prediction
There has been a Covid-19 outbreak in the PSG squad and it means that Kylian Mbappe will definitely miss this game. This won’t be the strongest line up for Thomas Tuchel’s side, and the club are keeping team news at this time close to their chest, so we won’t know more until nearer the game.
This of course could work in Lens favour. We think PSG will be made to work hard for their win, as Lens will try and see an opportunity to see some weakness and uncertainty in the team.
But PSG of course are so strong and still have quality players that should have little trouble getting all three points in midweek.
Half Time Correct Score 0-0 or 1-0 to Lens at 2.75 (7/4) and 5.00 (4/1)
Anytime goalscorer: Marco Verratti (PSG) at 9.00 (8/1).
