Leicester vs Wolves
England – Premier League
Date: Sunday, 11 August 2019
Kick-off at 14:00 UK/ 19:00 CET
Venue: King Power Stadium (Leicester).
Wolves really have been a revelation to the big boys in the Premier League. The team which recently secured promotion to the top division gave a run for the money for many of the established superpowers in the competition. And at the end of a thrilling campaign, the squad grabbed a ticket to the Europa League.
Leicester was a major contender for the same spot, and in 2018-19 they faced a stiff race for the lone position from two other groups too – Everton and West Ham.
This time around, most mid-table teams have hugely invested in their squad depth, and in marquee signings, which will make things even worse. Right away from match-day 1, the groups will have to concentrate on accumulating points.
The 2015-16 Premier League Champions could take advantage of the fact that Wolverhampton is fighting on two fronts, the other being their qualifiers for continental championship, and try to inflict some damage.
Anyhow, the relative inexperience of the visitors for the day does not seem to bother them much, as was seen in the last edition of the PL. And it would do good for Leicester to tread carefully.
Leicester vs Wolves Head-to-head (h2h)
- The last time these two met, Wolves recorded a 4-3 win.
- Five of the last six games saw home wins.
- Wolves conceded two or more goals in the last two fixtures.
- The last an away side registered a win was in 2007.
Leicester vs Wolves Prediction
After the momentum Wolverhampton has built over the last year, it’s extremely unlikely that they will be content with what they have now. As of now, they are considered as a major player in the league, just a notch below the usual suspects – the top-six.
The Wolves are also going through a bit of a green patch. The side is on a winning streak, and this included tough Europa League fixtures too. Also, the last they lost in the previous ten match-day periods was against none other than the mighty Liverpool.
Also, the Wanderers were comparatively far better than Jamie Vardy and his squad in 2018-19 and had registered a 4-3 win against the Foxes the last time they met.
As such, expect the guests to start their campaign on a positive note.
Coming to goals though, the home advantage will play a role in the outcome. Consider that five of the last six h2h meetings saw home wins and that hosts of the day have scored two or more goals in their last five ties on the trot. In addition, their counterparts failed to keep a clean sheet in 18 of their last 20 road trips too.
With these in mind, count on the BTTS criterion being fulfilled.
