The city of Leicester are planning to name the Streets after the current players if their club win the English League title this season.
The city mayor Sir Peter Soulsby is planning to follow tradition in re-branding streets name with the side’s players.
Leicester in the past have named some parts of the City’s Street after sports personalities and ‘Lineker Road’ is one example which was named to honour Former England star Gary Lineker.
And Leicester are weighing options to re-brand streets as ‘Ranieri Road’ and ‘Vardy Vale’ after Cludio Ranieri and Jamie Vardy respectively.
Sir Peter Soulsby said: “Leicester has honoured its sporting stars in the past. There is an area named after golfers and there is also a Lineker Road.”
“It has been a real team effort, so as well as Vardy Vale we would need to have Schmeichel Street, Drinkwater Drive and Ranieri Road.”
The Foxes are seven points clear on top of the table with 69 points and just six games to end the season. They are very well poised to lift the English Premier League for the first time in their history.
In their remaining round of fixtures Leicester City F.C will welcome West Ham, Swansea and Everton at their home ground and travel away to meet Sunderland, Manchester United and Chelsea.
