Leicester City vs Swansea City
England – Premier League
Date: Saturday, 3 February 2018
Kick-Off at 15:00 UK
Venue: King Power Stadium (Leicester).
Swansea City are flying high after back-to-back wins over the league’s heavyweights Liverpool and Arsenal at their Liberty Stadium. The Welsh outfit is now only a single point adrift of the safe zone and they could well take advantage of the momentum and escape it after this weekend’s trip to King Power Stadium.
The story is completely opposite with the hosts as Claude Puel has a lot of under issues to solve before the situation in the dressing room gets any better. The team once again had the saga with Riyad Mahrez’s transfer on the deadline day as the Foxes did not let their key man make a Manchester City move. The Algerian midfielder was clearly not happy with such a decision and he skipped the mid-week’s loss to Everton.
Mahrez will likely not be in the squad for Swansea’s visit either. Moreover, Leicester City have sent three strikers on loans this January (Ulloa, Slimani and Musa), signing Fousseni Diabate from a Ligue 2 outfit Ajaccio at the same time. The Nigerian forward Kelechi Iheanacho had fantastic displays in the FA Cup netting braces against both Fleetwood Town and Peterborough United, but the former Man City man is yet to find the net in the Premier League.
The Foxes were undefeated in three subsequent league ties before the negative atmosphere surrounding Mahrez’s potential transfer affected the poor display at Goodison. Jamie Vardy did score a goal converting the penalty, but the defensive line did not look as solid as earlier allowing two cheap goals from Everton’s acquisition Theo Walcott.
Leicester City vs Swansea City: Head-to-head
The Foxes have been entirely dominant in head to head meetings with Swansea City at King Power Stadium.
Leicester have won each of six home clashes against the Swans with the total goal difference of 14-4 in the process.
The Foxes were also successful in this term’s meeting at Liberty Stadium where they’ve picked up a 1-2 victory back in mid-October.
Leicester City vs Swansea City: Prediction
Even though the head to head stats suggest a one-way street (just as the odds), we believe the time has come for Swansea City to end the horrific tradition and finally get something from King Power Stadium.
The Swans look quite impressive under Carlos Carvalhal and given that Leicester have so many problems to solve inside the dressing room, we see a massive value in backing Swansea to win at 5.00.
