Leicester City vs Manchester United
English Premier League
Date: Saturday, 23 December 2017
Kick-Off: 19:45 UK
Venue: King Power Stadium (Leicester).
Neither Leicester City nor Manchester United will come into Saturday’s clash high on confidence after suffering disappointing losses in their last matches. Whilst the Foxes ended their hot run of form in the Premier League falling to the strugglers Crystal Palace last weekend, the Red Devils suffered a disappointing League Cup elimination to the Championship outfit Bristol City on Wednesday.
Leicester were also in action in mid-week when they were unlucky to get eliminated after penalties against Manchester City. The manager Claude Puel can be satisfied with the way in which his lads reacted after a tough home loss to the Glaziers as they conceded no more than a single goal being quite competitive over the 90 minutes of the Tuesday’s Carabao Cup clash with the Citizens.
Before the mentioned loss to Crystal Palace, Puel’s side was on a streak of four consecutive wins in the Premier League which saw them climb up to the eight place in the league ladder. They’ve already proven they have what it takes to beat the league’s heavyweights earlier when they defeated Tottenham Hotspur at King Power and Vardy, Mahrez & company will clearly be a massive challenge for United here.
Jose Mourinho lined up a pretty strong squad at Ashton Gate using the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Paul Pogba in the Carabao Cup clash, but it was not enough for the Red Devils to qualify to the next round as the in-form Championship outfit grabbed a massive 2-1 win in front of the home crowd. In the league, United celebrated narrow wins over AFC Bournemouth and WBA after falling to Guardiola’s City in Manchester’s derby and there is a general impression that the Red Devils are struggling to find the back of the net at this point.
Leicester City vs Manchester United: Predictions
Manchester United are far from the ideal form and they will hardly go past Leicester City unharmed in the last game of the day on Saturday.
If we ignore the loss to Crystal Palace, the Foxes really do look impressive under Puel, and we believe they have what it takes to avoid a failure against the Red Devils here.
We will also back BTTS given that Utd’s defensive line has been fairly vulnerable in the most recent fixtures.
