Leicester City vs Arsenal
English Premier League
Date: Wednesday, 9 May 2018
Kick-Off at 19:45 UK / 20:45 CET
Venue: King Power Stadium, Leicester.
Arsenal managed to recover from the Europa League elimination in some fashion, trashing seventh-placed Burnley 5-0 on Arsene Wenger’s farewell to Emirates Stadium. The Gunners thus confirmed the top-six finish, but they will sadly not feature the most elite competition on the continent following the loss to Atletico Madrid on Thursday.
Nevertheless, the French manager will still want to end his reign in North London on a high with wins in the remaining away fixtures at Leicester City and Huddersfield Town in last two rounds of the season. There’s plenty to announce a potential success for the Gunners in the mid-week’s tie with the Foxes at King Power Stadium.
First of all, they’ll come into it off the back of a demolishing 5-0 victory over Clarets. The win saw Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette cooperation at its bets with this duo bagging three of team’s five goals on Sunday.
Additionally, Leicester’s form has seen a massive slide over the last couple of weeks. Claude Puel’s troops won just one point in last five Premier League matches and they did not score a single goal in last three league ties. Given the opposition in these games included the likes of Southampton, Crystal Palace and West Ham, we just can’t see how such a poor trend could be changed on Wednesday when the more famous city rivals come at London Stadium.
Leicester City vs Arsenal: Head-to-head
Arsenal may have struggled for consistency over the last couple of years, but they did not have any issues in matches with the Foxes, winning five of last six.
The streak includes a 4-3 victory back from the start of the campaign when the two teams locked horns in August last year at Emirates Stadium.
It is interesting to note that eight of last ten head to head games saw both sides on the scoreline.
Leicester City vs Arsenal: Prediction
Arsenal definitely head into this as massive form favourites and we’d be very surprised to see anything else but the away win as the final outcome here. Leicester City conceded at least twice in four of last five league matches, meaning the in-form likes of Lacazette and Aubameyang should really have plenty of room in the final third here.
Moving forward, the visitors will be highly motivated to end Wenger’s last season on a high and we just have to see the value in backing the away win at the odds of 2.00 here. You can feel free to back both Lacazette and Aubameyang to score anytime. We’ll chase the value and go for the Frenchman given he’s priced up at 2.00 to find the back of the net past the struggling defense of Leicester’s.
