Leeds vs West Ham
England – Premier League
Date: Friday, 11 December 2020
Kick-off at 20:00 UK/ 21:00 CET
Venue: Elland Road.
Luck seems to have run out for the Whites, as they are currently struggling to get into the top tier of the table. They had a great start to their campaign, and since then they have failed to recreate that magic.
However, they are at home this Friday, and finally have a comparatively low-profile opponent after several game weeks. Marcelo Bielsa will try his level best to make good use of this opportunity.
Still, the inconsistent defense of his team is a problem that needs to be addressed.
Meanwhile, the Hammers are placed in the eighth spot at the moment, and that’s majorly due to their three-game winning run the last month against some of the worst teams in the competition.
They have shown weaknesses against well-prepared offenses, and especially on the road. Likely, this weekend, at the Elland Road, Leeds have the upper hand.
Leeds vs West Ham: Head-to-head (h2h)
- The Whites are on an unbeaten run against this opponent since 2000.
- In fact, since 1989, they have lost just twice.
- They have scored two or more goals in four of the former seven clashes.
- At this venue, the hosts had won eight of the preceding ten meetings.
- Only once have the home team failed to score here since 1992.
Leeds vs West Ham: Prediction
Bielsa’s men lost 3-1 on the road the last match-day, against Chelsea. In the meantime, David Moyes’s men lost 1-3 at home against Manchester United.
Going on, the Whites were unbeaten in 15 of their previous 20 overall games, and all these five losses had come against some of the best teams in the PL – Liverpool, Chelsea, Wolves, Aston Villa, and Crystal Palace.
As such, the game against the Hammers give them hope, since Moyes’s men have been great just against some of the bottom-tier squads.
On top of that, Bielsa’s men also have a terrific h2h record over the years, and particularly so at the Elland Road.
For the reasons, count on Leeds to win at least one of the halves.
However, note that they have conceded three or more goals in three of the past five overall matches, and they have a single clean sheet at this ground all through this campaign.
Moreover, not once have the Hammers failed to find the back of the net in their last 13 match-ups.
As such, expect goals to come from both teams this Friday.
