Leeds vs Brentford English League Championship Predictions by LeagueLane

Leeds vs Brentford
England – Championship
Date: Wednesday, 21 August 2019
Kick-off at 19:45 UK / 20:45 CET
Venue: Elland Road (Leeds).

Leeds United will take on Brentford in the 4th round of the Sky Bet Championship. The hosts are at the top of the league with two wins a draw to date. Leeds United have suffered Playoff heartbreak in the semi-finals against Derby County, but with the legendary Marcelo Bielsa on the bench and with some exciting arrivals, they should, once again, fight for promotion.

Brentford will be hoping to challenge for the Playoffs after 11th-place finish last term. Neil Maupay and Ezri Konsa have left the club, but the Brentford board did the right thing and reinvested that money in new signings, adding some intriguing players from all over the place. They’ve collected four points from three opening games.

Leeds United vs Brentford: Head to Head

  • Overall stats: Brentord 8 wins, Leeds 6 wins, 8 draws.
  • Last season’s meetings have ended with a 1-1 draw at Elland Road 2-0 win for the Bees at Griffin Park.
  • We haven’t seen an away win in this H2H since 2015. Since then home team won five times and three games ended in stalemate.
  • Five of the last six games between these teams have ended with Under 2.5.

Leeds United vs Brentford: Prediction

The Whites are flying with rejuvenated Pablo Hernandez and revived Patrick Bamford running the show. The Spaniard had a best season of his career at the age of 33, and he’s looking even better now, all thanks to that man – Marcelo Bielsa.

Eddie Nketiah, Arsenal loanee, has netted in his debut in the League Cup, and he should get some minutes here as well. The youngster had a strong pre-season for the London outfit, scoring 3 goals against Fiorentina and Bayern Munich.

Brentford are difficult to ‘read’ these days. Last season they’ve collected more than 70% of their points at their Griffin Park, and struggled mightily on the road, with just 3 wins out of 23 games. This season they started off with a loss at home and a win away to Boro. I expect them go back to their old ways, starting from Wednesday.

Leeds are playing good football and with so many quality options up front, I’ll willing to back them up against reshuffled Brentford side.
